ACTRIS Week 2026

The annual ACTRIS Week workshop brings together experts working in the field of atmospheric research. This year’s event, held at the University of Silesia in Katowice, Poland, from October 19–23, 2026, was attended by approximately 180 experts from 22 countries representing nearly 70 research infrastructures.

The Czech research infrastructure ACTRIS-CZ was represented by delegates from all five partner institutions: Masaryk University (RECETOX), the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute, CzechGlobe, the Institute of Chemical Processes of the Czech Academy of Sciences, and the Institute of Atmospheric Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

The program included meetings of expert working groups, thematic workshops, and discussions focused on the current development of the ACTRIS infrastructure and other new services for the scientific community, ongoing research projects, and new opportunities for international collaboration.

The program also included the traditional meeting of the ACTRIS-CZ External Scientific Advisory Board, which took place on October 20, 2026.

ATMO-SERV Project Kick-off Meeting

Katowice also hosted the kick-off meeting of the European ATMO-SERV project (ATMOspheric research infrastructure SERVices for curiosity-driven research of atmospheric chemistry and dynamics) which connects research infrastructures and facilitates access to their services, facilities, and data.

ATMO-SERV brings together leading European research infrastructures - ACTRIS, ICOS, IAGOS, EISCAT_3D, SIOS, EIRENE, ARISE, and ASCENT, focused on research into the atmosphere, climate, the environment, and health. It creates a unified access system to more than 90 research facilities and digital services and offers researchers from around the world the opportunity to use observatories, experimental platforms, specialized laboratories, and data services focused on the study of climate, air quality, atmospheric processes, and their impacts on human health.

The meeting was attended by project partners from across Europe, who spent two days discussing planned activities, the framework for collaboration, and the organization of access to research capacities.

The EIRENE-CZ infrastructure is participating in the project not only as a provider of transnational and virtual access to research capacities, but also as a co-coordinator of the work package focused on coordinating and managing access to research infrastructures. It will offer users access to specialized laboratories focused on trace analysis, the microbiome, and biomarkers, as well as access to the GENASIS database. The ATMO-SERV project will thus contribute to a more efficient use of European research capacities, strengthen international cooperation, and support cutting-edge research in the fields of the atmosphere, the environment, and health.
