WP8 - EIRENE recognition, engagement, and global collaboration (months 19-36)
Objectives
Deliver adaptive, user-centered services support, build a sustainable training network, assess socioeconomic impact and stakeholder perception, enabling strategic value and policy uptake
Tasks (months 19-36)
T8.1 – User Support System (Task leader: JSI, participants: ORU, MU, UNIVIE, all)
This task implements the user strategy from the preparatory phase, focusing on: i) intuitive and user-oriented access to data and tools (MU, JSI), and iii) feedback and adaptation (JSI, ORU). In collaboration with WP2, selected services will undergo user journey mapping and stakeholder interviews. Usability will be assessed via service design scores (JSI, ORU), and a helpdesk will provide technical support under the Access Management Plan (AMP) (MU, JSI). A feedback mechanism will monitor satisfaction, track KPIs (usage, refinement rate), and guide iterative improvements (JSI, ORU). Regular surveys and performance reviews will inform adjustments, while scalability and sustainability planning will ensure full operational readiness (JSI, ORU, MU, UNIVIE). Outcomes will be summarized in D8.1 Operational User Access and Support System, M36, JSI. All partners will contribute to consider the specificity and character of their services.
T8.2 – Establishment of the EIRENE Training Network (Task leader: UNIVIE, participants: ORU, MU, UU, VITO, RIVM, NHRF)
This task will prepare the basic structure and governance of a future EIRENE Training Network (ETN) for staff training and external outreach (D8.2. Training Network Platform and Governance Model, M36, UNIVIE, co-authored by ORU). A Training Steering Committee will coordinate the design and activities (UNIVIE, ORU, MU, UU, VITO, NHRF, RIVM). A concept for an online training platform will be drafted in close coordination with WP2, ensuring that its architecture could later be made interoperable with other European research infrastructures (UNIVIE). Options for management training with external partners and possible service models will be explored to position ETN as an EU-level training node (MU, UNIVIE).
T8.3 Quantitative impact assessment and scenario‑based economic forecasting (Task leader: AUTH; partners: NHRF, MU, ORU, JSI)
Based on the validated framework developed in Task 7.3, this task will deliver quantitative assessments and forecasts to support evidence-based governance and strategic planning. A full-scale Cost–Benefit Analysis will be delivered (see D8.3, M32) using real implementation data (provided with domain representatives MU, ORU, JSI, NHRF and all partners) to compare financial and human resource investments in EIRENE RI with socio-economic returns. Findings will be synthesised in a Final Impact Report (D8.3, M32, AUTH) highlighting achievements, value-for-money indicators, and trends across impact domains. Following this, a Forecasted Impact Report (D8.4, M36, NHRF) will model baseline, optimistic, and conservative scenarios, quantifying Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), key impact drivers, and associated risks. These insights will support WP4’s financial model calibration and inform funding and sustainability discussions with stakeholders (MU).
T8.4 Longitudinal analytics of stakeholder recognition and perceptual dynamics (Task leader: JSI, partners: AUTH, MU, NHRF, UU)
Task analyses how the RI is perceived by users and stakeholders over time. It will launch the “Recognition and Impact Forum” (M3, M12, JSI), bringing scientific, policy, civil society and private-sector actors to validate recognition indicators and co-design an annual survey. 1st survey runs at M19 and repeat annually to track relevance, visibility, service quality, and reputation. Continuous monitoring (UU, AUTH, JSI) of citations, media mentions, testimonials, and satisfaction will spot trends, evaluate engagement strategies, and adapt outreach. Findings will be shared at follow-up forums and integrated into the soc-eco reporting cycle. It will inform WP2 by identifying value drivers, demand signals, and evidence for validating market assumptions, setting pricing policies, strengthening EIRENE’s long-term position in the EU research infrastructure landscape (MU, NRHS, UU).
T8.5 Strategic value creation, stakeholder co-design and policy uptake (Task leader: NHRF, partners: MU, JSI, UU, Inserm)
This task will enhance EIRENE’s long-term positioning by integrating strategic foresight, stakeholder engagement, and pathways for value creation and policy uptake, bridging monitoring outcomes (Tasks 6.1–6.3) with sustainability and investment strategies. Multi-actor “Impact Co-Design Labs” will convene Member States, funders, scientists, civil society, industry, and policymakers to validate findings, define priorities, and co-create services or partnerships, with active inclusion of underrepresented groups. Strategic pathways will be assessed (NHRF, MU), covering innovation exploitation (e.g. spin-offs, licensing), policy integration (e.g. use of EIRENE data in health monitoring), and contributions to EU priorities (Green Deal, Zero Pollution, One Health), alongside SDG and Horizon Europe alignment (UU, Inserm, JSI). A forward-looking stakeholder alignment and investment strategy will map funders, co-investment levers, and synergies with EU infrastructures. The task will deliver an EIRENE Socio-Economic Legacy & Value Plan (D8.5, M36, NHRF) with post-project impact strategies, governance recommendations, and ERIC-readiness support.
